The International GT Open was created in 2006 by GT Sport,
who has been the official organizer for a decade of the Spanish GT and F3 championships, now known as F3 Open.
In 2011 the serie will enter its sixth edition, having enjoyed a growing success in terms of excellence and quality of entries, interest raised, exposure and geographical expansion.
Today GT Open is...
- The best platform for GT2 and GT3 pro-am racing in Europe
- The series offering the best GT2 cars performances
- The GT championship with the best cost/exposure ratio
- The only GT series where leveling of performances are not applied through measures affecting technical and mechanical performance of the car, but through a time handicap to be served in pits during mandatory driver change.
The International GT Open Philosophy is to keep rules simple and stable during the years, maintain costs under control, visit only top-level circuits, revive the traditional pro-am spirit of GT racing and provide premium TV/media coverage
