Fernando Monje (BMW M6 GT3), fourth in the first race of Austria

10/09/2016

The team of Fernando Monje and Gustavo Yacamán (BMW M6 GT3) finished fourth in the first of the two races that make up the meeting fifth of the International GT Open, a very positive result for not having penalties to dispute the test from Sunday.

After almost two months without competing in this championship, Monk-Yacamán arrived at the Red Bull Ring ready and for special reasons, like other components of BMW Team Teo Martin, and already in the free practice sessions the great state was checked form both duets. In the overall of the two sessions, Miguel Ramos-Pieter Schothorst were second while Fernando Monje-Gustavo Yacamán managed third place, both with the competitive BMW M6 GT3.

Already in qualifying for the first race, the M6 â??â??out towards the end of the session and managed the second and third places, in the latter case with Gustavo Yacamán the wheel, which has been who has led the BMW in it and who, therefore, it has come to the race.

Yacamán stood in the early stages of the race, second BMW tandem, but the application of a drive through penalty for a touch to another participant in the output will relegated to seventh place, catching up and down the car fourth in the pit stop to change pilot. When Fernando has taken the wheel decided to book for the last race tire set that could be used, stroking the podium in the last laps, but has finally crossed the finish line fourth.

Maintain this position and even be covered with worn third was a feat of Spanish, which has made this determination so that tomorrow he start the race with new tires and your partner can do the same, attacking the top positions. 'In addition, finishing third supposed to add to the 10' 'which already had accumulated Silverstone to finish the second race 2º- 5' 'more, a really significant handicap pit waiting when do the driver change. Thus we have rented the accumulated and tomorrow we will without the pressure of this penalty '. Meanwhile, in today's race Ramos-Schothorst stood at the top of the drawer.

Tomorrow, the second day of racing in a format practically traced to today, qualifying will be held at 9.50 (30 ') and race 2 from 1435 but only last an hour.
